Unlike Gordon Gekko in the movie Wall Street, I firmly do not believe that greed is good. For all my criteria greed can turn any good soul into a malicious one.
Greed can fill you and at the same time leave you with absolutely nothing.
I came to Disney World 4 years ago, I had, at the time already notice the aspects, all the tricks to make you spend and spend even more money.
It did not bother that much then but this time around it did. I could easily picture mickey rubbing his hands and smiling with dollar sign teeth : when the days were so hot (almost every days) that they were selling thousands of ice cream at a crazy price or when it was raining and they were selling umbrellas and ponchos at indecent price.
Those example are just a few of the obvious observations I made when I was there.
My only regret is to see this "magical world" turning itself clearer and clearer to the company that it is, a greedy company.
It has been like that 4 years ago, but it was somehow more hidden, more subtile. Now it's all in the open , obvious to all and everyone to see.
And everyone wants a piece, a piece of the action, a piece of the castle, wants to bring back a piece of the experience. The greed is slowly but surely spreading in many ways, shape and forms.
I hope that I, that they, will remember. That the magical there is not so much because of the place, the attractions, but rather thanks to the childs and the adults who kept their child eyes that go to those places, that do those attractions.
Their laugh, their admiration, the glitter in their eyes, is what I think makes the magic happens, is what makes this place magical.
Don't get me wrong though. I enjoyed very much the trip, the vacation. I enjoyed very much even more so as I was with my closed ones and they liked it too. Still, one needs to be aware of those things.
