When cooking you may fail resoundingly, it doesn't mean that you won't have fun in the process !
You will most probably not achieved the recipe as fast as advertised, so what, do you expect a medal at the end ?
Your recipe may not taste as exact as it "should", it doesn't mean that it will taste any less better.
I use to be afraid, of what exactly, I could not tell really. But the words that come to my mind are reticences, scared to fail, sprinkled by bits of laziness here and there and also this sticky lack of confidence.
I now try to open my views, and found out that if put aside all the "brakes" that your brain will shoot at you. If you let the fears flow through you. The only thing that will remain is : a simple pleasure.
Pleasure to try "new",
Pleasure to mix ingredients while seeing and tasting the results,
Pleasure to laugh at your failures,
Pleasure to share,
Pleasure to be proud of your creations, your little achievements.
After a while you will feel the process ligher and ligher .
Of course, having your family and friends appreciating your cooking will galvanize you. And we should be thankful for it.
But even though we don't have the warm external approbation (which is my case most of time, my son is mmmm picky to say the least). Your opinion should be enough and be well worthwhile. Don't you forget, you are the master of your joy. Everything else is to be considered as the cherry on the cake.
